About

Established in 2018, Tennis Academy EDP is located within the grounds of the luxury Etoile de Pompadour Hotel in the calm and picturesque French countryside, at Beyssac (2 hours from Bordeaux airport and 2 hours from Toulouse airport).

The academy’s top-level coaching team offers individual training sessions and specialized PRO programs. The academy offers training on the indoor clay courts, providing the advantage of year-round play, regardless of the weather. Beyond tennis and padel, Etoile de Pompadour diversifies the sports experience with its equestrian activities, golf, hiking trails, and basketball.

Etoile de Pompadour Tennis Academy in Corrèze is a paradise of sports activities. A destination that puts you in the saddle and on the court. Connect with the wining athlete in you. Experience the heart pumping excitement of horseback riding, tennis, hunting, fishing, biking and much more.

Etoile de Pompadour has 9 newly refurbished mud brick covered courts, for an ideal practice to all players – beginners and experienced alike.

A comfortable clubhouse (with showers and lockers) serves these courts, where you can enjoy a view of the courts around a refreshment.

In addition, 3 outdoor porous concrete courts allow outdoor practice under the Corrézien sun.

Tournaments and competitions take place there throughout the year. All our courts are open to the public upon reservation.

Meet the Team

Alessandro Viggiani (Head coach and director): 

Alessandro brings together his 15 years of coaching experience across some of Europe’s tennis clubs in Italy, Spain, and France and his administrative skills to run the Academy. Speaks English, Italian, and Spanish.

Roberta Valeri (Head of PRO department).

Before joining EDP Tennis Academy, Roberta was in charge of the Pro Tennis Coaching BCN PRO department. Like Alessandro, her coaching background spans Italy, Spain, and France. Despite her specialized experience in PRO training, she works with all levels. Speaks English, Italian, and Spanish.

The New Aquitaine Tennis League certifies that the Etoile de Pompadour structure is authorized by the French Tennis Federation under the number 59198001 since 5/1/2018.

Courts

Indoor Clay Courts: 9 indoor clay courts allow maintaining the constant medium temperature of about 20°C and playing all year round regardless of weather conditions. 

Outdoor Clay Courts:  2 outdoor clay courts.

Indoor Padel Courts: 2 glass padel courts.

Etoile de Pompadour is in the peaceful countryside, surrounded by forests, lakes, and meadows.  Deers, foxes, and wild pigs who occasionally walk by contribute to this idyllic picture.  For those looking for interesting places and sightseeing to explore, within an hour’s drive from Etoile de Pompadour, there are plenty of cultural and historical attractions, from old castles to prehistoric caves. 

1. Arnac Pompadour is a small village just 5 minutes from the hotel, famous for its 15th-century castle of Marquise de Pompadour and a horse center that annually hosts prestigious equestrian events. 

 2. The Castle of Arnac Pompadour is a perfectly preserved medieval castle. It’s open for visits. The museum showcases the interiors of the 19th century and Marquise’s stables, which house today an elite horse center. 

3. Brive-la-Gaillarde: Located just 35 minutes from EDP tennis academy, this small town is lovely and worth visiting for lunch or dinner. It’s “very French” with charming streets, cafes,  small local shops, boutiques, a food market, and to-die-for chocolate from the Eric Lamy chocolate shop. 

 4. Brive Food Market is a true gastronomic experience.  French ladies armed with baskets come here for fresh local produce: infinite varieties of cheese, vegetables and fruits, chocolate, and French pastry.  It’s open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

5. Limoges: It is a lovely town with an hour’s drive from EDP tennis academy. Apart from wandering across the streets of the charming downtown, the key must-seen locations are the train station and the monumental building of the town hall. The gothic Cathedral of Limoges, dating back to the 13th century, is undoubtedly the center attraction. 

Limoges is also a culinary harbor, with over two hundred dining establishments catering to budget travelers, gourmet fans, and families.
